Mobridge-Pollock played their first ever State Softball game in the third season of sanctioned softball in South Dakota, and if they were nervous, it didn’t show. The seventh-seeded Tigers scored five runs in the top of the first inning and scored multiple runs in five of seven innings to rout Bon Homme, 17-10. It was a full team effort for Mobrige-Pollock as all nine batters scored at least one run, while eight of nine registered at least one hit, and seven of the nine drove in at least one run. Amber Vetch had three hits and three RBI’s, all on a first-inning bases-clearing double, while Sophia Overland also drove in three. Faith Heil had three hits, and Jacy Netterville scored three runs. Grace Overland pitched the complete game, striking out five along the way. The Tigers will play the final game of the day Friday at 4:00 in the second semifinal game of the championship bracket. In other games of the State B Tournament, Deuel beat Avon 9-2, and Alcester-Hudson routed Florence/Henry, 11-3. The final first round game is Castlewood vs. Gayville-Volin. Mobridge-Pollock gets the winner of that game. Castlewood is the defending State B Champion.
