The Twins are back to work tonight coming off a much needed off-day after losing their previous series at home to the Toronto Blue Jays. Tonight, Minnesota welcomes in the Texas Rangers for a three-game series before heading back on the road for the weekend to Houston. The Twins find themselves in a very interesting position in the AL Central. Even though they sit in second place, everyone in the division is looking way up at the Detroit Tigers who have been playing some of the leagues best baseball this season.
The Twins currently sit 7 games out of first place behind Detroit, which is the largest deficit between a first and second place team in the MLB by at least three games. That just goes to show you how good the Tigers have been as of late. While many are saying the Twins should start to focus on the Wild Card, there is still a ton of baseball left to be played and they can start to chip away at that division deficit tonight.
First pitch is set for 6:40 PM CT, and while the Rangers will be trotting out Tyler Mahle, the Twins strangely have still yet to name a starter. The Twins sit at 35-30 while the Rangers hold a losing record of 31-35. You can listen to tonight’s game on KGFX 1060 AM or on 103.1 FM in the Pierre area.
