Farmers will be able to see the latest weed mitigation and crop mapping strategies using robotics, drones and precision agriculture technology during the Northern Plains Robotics/AI Field Day event June 17-18, 2025, in the Forbes and McClusky, North Dakota, areas.
Demonstrations will include corn, soybean and sunflower fields.
Information on June 17 will focus on robotics using AI on a corn field and a sunflower field. The morning session will begin at 10am on the Tel Pudwill farm (7549 94th Street SE, Forbes, ND). After lunch, the field demonstration moves to the Brett Miller farm, located nearby (94th Street SE and 80th Avenue). The field is one half mile north of the farm. Parking in the grassy area is available. There will also be information available for transitioning to organic acres as the robotics provides for less use or no use of chemicals.
Demonstrations on June 18 will start at 10am and will focus on robotics and drone demonstrations. These will be held at the refurbished silo on the Kim Saueressig farm. From McClusky, ND, directions to the farm are:
- go 4.8 miles west
- then go 2.5 miles north on Center Avenue
- The entrance to the field and silo will be on the east side of the road.

“As a farmer, I see technology transforming fields—making planting, monitoring, and harvesting more precise and efficient. With these innovations, we’re building a smarter, more sustainable future for farming.” Kim Saueressig, NDDPLC Chair/McClusky ND.
“Embracing innovation is a transformative step toward sustainable agriculture. By using advanced technologies, we can optimize yields, minimize environmental impact, and build a more resilient and profitable future for pulse growers.” Shannon Berndt, Executive Director. Northern Pulse Growers Association.
“With the advancements in tools growers can deploy on their farms, whether it be artificial intelligence, autonomous machinery, soil health bio-stimulants or biologicals, we are headed for the successful creation of sustainability for the farmer,” said Steve Knorr, CEO of Farmers Choice and sponsor.
“We are excited to bring this agri-tech field day showcase to North Dakota, said Randy Stratton, with SecurCrop Agri-Tech Consultants. We have seen firsthand how robotics and AI has transformed the agriculture economics for vegetable and orchard growers in California, Oregon and Washington. The ability to meet sustainability goals, and reduce the cost for weed mitigation, chemistry inputs and labor has been a game changer for many farmers.”
The event is made possible by support and promotion from the Northern Pulse Growers Association, Dry Pea & Lentil Council, Northern Plains Sustainable Ag Society, Farmers Choice Seeds, XACT Agriculture (satellite), Tenacity Ag (drones) and KULTKress (AI cultivation) machinery.
