This Fathers Day weekend we saw the final weekend of high school rodeo qualifying before the State Rodeo gets underway tomorrow in Fort Pierre. The East Region was in Watertown, the Northwest Region was in Dupree, the Southwest Region competing in New Underwood and the River Region in Winner.
From the River Region, Pierre saw some more high finishers as expected with Ryen Sheppick, Makenzee Wheelhouse and Gabriyelle Irving placing high in multiple different categories. Madelyn Saienga from Miller had a nice performance over the weekend taking the top spot in breakaway roping, and Jack Saienga also showing out taking third in tiedown. Highmore’s Laniee Ping represented well with a second place spot in goat tying, and Talon Ping took the top spot in bareback riding with 20.00 total points.
The State Rodeo will kick off tomorrow and continue through the 21st at the Stanley County Fairgrounds in Fort Pierre, we will keep you updated on results here.
