Derecho destroys crops, buildings in area extending from Montana border, to North Dakota, northern South Dakota, Minnesota and Michigan

Extreme winds blew through a 700 mile long stretch of the United States last weekend (June 20-21, 2025), hitting parts of North Dakota and northern South Dakota.

U.S. Department of Agriculture meteorologist Brad Rippey explains the combination of weather events that culminated in what has now been determined to have been a derecho.
