Dakota Wesleyan University’s Learn and Earn program in Pierre has a new name and a new leader.
Renae Lehman from Pierre is the program coordinator for the business degree in Pierre program. The 16-month course offers high school graduates a fresh approach to earning an Associate of Arts degree in Organizational Management– doing it in less time and with less debt than traditional post-secondary education options.
Lehman says the program uses a combination of classroom and online learning, with curriculum designed to prepare students for what actually matters in the workplace, not just theories in a textbook. She says students learn practical, job-ready skills in business, communication, finance, organization and leadership.
Students participate in a year-long, part-time, paid internship while completing their coursework, offered on-site at the Capital City Campus in Pierre. Students are also matched with a career coach to guide and support them during their academic journey.
The 16-month business degree in Pierre program, which began in 2021, is also an option for students wanting to transfer from other higher education institutions.
Applications are now being accepted for the new cohort, with classes starting in January 2026.
