The goal for the Oahe Zap was a sweep of the Sodbusters as when they came in for three games in two days, and after coming off a four-game sweep of the Bison Baseball Club, they were certainly playing well enough to do it. While the Zap didn’t get the sweep, they got the next best thing with a series win, taking game one on Wednesday and splitting the doubleheader yesterday afternoon. The Zap fell in game one after giving up four runs in the fourth inning and never recovered, however, they gave the Sodbusters a taste of their own medicine scoring three runs in the bottom of the first to take a 3-1 lead. The Zap would score in all but two innings of game two, scoring two in the second, three in the third and then two more again in the fifth of a shortened seven-inning game and going on to win 10-4.
With the win, the Zap remain in first place and in the drivers seat for the final playoff spot in the ILB. While the Sodbusters series was big, no series this season has more on the line than the upcoming four-game series against the Casper Spuds beginning tonight. This series will essentially formulate the playoff picture, and if the Zap can win the series, they could very well secure a spot in the postseason.
Game one tonight has been pushed to 7:05 PM CT on River 92.7 and DRGnews.com at the River 92.7 station page. Coverage will begin at 6:55 PM CT.
