Dear Friends, Supporters, and Members of the Special Olympics South Dakota Community,
We would like to share an important leadership update. Darryl Nordquist has announced a transition from his current role as Chief Executive Officer to a role focused on fundraising for Special Olympics South Dakota. In this new role, he will concentrate on strengthening relationships with donors and supporters, and securing resources to advance our mission well into the future.
For the next 6 weeks, let’s talk about some weird yet wonderful health tips.
Strange But True Health Tip #1: To eat less, eat more
Grabbing a 100-calorie snack pack of cookies or pretzels may seem good for your diet, but it’s more likely to make you hungrier than if you ate something more substantial. Eating small amounts of carbohydrates does nothing but spike your blood sugar and leave you wanting more carbs. Instead, choose a protein such as peanut butter or string cheese with an apple. They are higher in calories per serving, but the protein and fat helps you get full faster and stay full longer—and you end up eating fewer calories overall.
In other words, if you choose the right foods, eating more and taking in more calories is better for your diet then something like a small candy bar.
