It would have been very easy for the Oahe Zap to overlook the Fremont Moo in the third and final game of the series with their biggest series of the season coming today and tomorrow against the Spearfish Sasquatch. The Zap had already won the first two games against the Moo, and know that the weekend series with Spearfish could essentially decide their postseason possibilities, but it was clear the Zap were not going to let an opportunity for the sweep slip away.
The Zap used a few errors to take an early 3-0 lead, before the Moo answered back with three of their own. In weeks past, the Zap would likely allow the Moo comeback to phase them, but in the month of July in the dead heat of a playoff race, they would answer in a big way. Vince Polizzi would drive in a few runs in the fifth with a base hit up the middle, then Ty Farwell would essentially put the game out of reach with a two-out, two-run homerun to provide some unneeded insurance. The Zap would go onto win 11-3 and earn the sweep, carrying a huge amount of momentum into their massive two-game road series with the Sasquatch.
The Zap will play Spearfish today and tomorrow, needing to at least split the series to stay out in front of all chasers for the final playoff spot. We will provide updates from the series all weekend long right here on DRGnews.com.
