Pierre street closure: Intersection of Poplar and Elizabeth

As of Tuesday (July 22, 2025), the intersection of Poplar Avenue and Elizabeth Street in Pierre is closed as crews begin preparing the area for asphalt replacement.

Weather permitting, the contractor is scheduled to be on site Monday (July 28) to pave over the recently completed waterline trench. The trench runs from the Poplar and Elizabeth intersection, north, to the intersection of Poplar and 2nd Street. The work is expected to be finished by July 29, with the full length of Poplar Avenue reopened to traffic by the end of that day.
