With only a few weeks left until the kickoff of the 2025 football season, crews continue to gain ground on the completion of the brand new complex in Fort Pierre for the Stanley County Buffaloes. Months ago, Mammoth Construction broke ground on the project, and the conversation around it’s completion date began. The end goal was to have the field and track done in time for the Buff’s first home game of the season versus the Parkston Trojans. A tall task, but the crew said they would be working long days, weekends and even nights if that’s what it took to get it completed in time.
Today, with hot temperatures and the sun baking, crews continued to make progress on the field as nearly half of the turf had been laid in position. Now, the scoreboard has been moved to the opposite side of the field, the track pavement has been poured and smoothed, and the purple, gold and green turf has been positioned to about half field.
The Buff’s first home game is scheduled for Friday, August 29th and they have high hopes of hosting a huge crowd at their beautiful new facility. Here are some photos of the turf being installed at Ole Williamson Field:
