After the Zap started 1-9, it looked like they might have a repeat of years past. Finishing with a losing record and missing the ILB playoff was almost a foregone conclusion. But there was something different about this 2025 Zap squad. A resilient bunch who never hung their heads, never let a team out play them and never meeting a stranger in the dugout, the Zap turned the season around.
As the Zap started to win games early in July, there was a distant belief this team could fight their way into the postseason, but there was just that, a belief. As the month of July rolled on and the wins continued to roll in, the Zap kept believing that one of those two spots in the final series of the year belonged to them. Well, over the weekend, that belief became reality as the first time ever in their organizations history, they officially made it to the playoffs.
With the Zap splitting the weekend series with the Hasting Sodbusters, and the Casper Spuds defeating the Spearfish Sasquatch on Saturday night, the Zap could make plans to be around next week for the best-of-five series against the Sasquatch (who won the first half of the season). After that 1-9 start, the Zap closed out the regular season 25-8 and clinched the playoff berth at home.
The Zap now welcome a Monday off-day before welcoming in Spearfish for games one and two of the championship. Both home games at Hyde Stadium will get underway on Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:05 PM CT on River 92.7 and DRGnews.com at the River 92.7 station page. Postseason tickets are now on-sale at OaheZap.com or can be bought at the box office on game night. The gates will open on Tuesday and Wednesday at 6:05 PM CT, and it would be wise to get there early as there will be no assigned seating, but seating on a first-come, first-serve basis.
