Multiple fishing tournaments are held on Lake Oahe each summer, but the one that began Wednesday and finishes on Friday (July 30-Aug. 1, 2025) is different from most tournaments held on the Missouri River in the Pierre and Fort Pierre area.
The two-person teams competing in The Bass Federation 2025 Junior World Championship are youth in 8th grade or younger.
Pierre City Commissioner Jamie Huizenga says the participants come from all over the United States and Canada.
Huizenga– who spoke at a welcome event for the teams earlier this week– says this tournament has brought a lot of people to the area.
Weigh-ins begin at 2pm at Steamboat Park in Pierre.
