The rumble of motorcycles fills South Dakota highways, and communities across the state are ready to greet rally-goers with open arms. Travel South Dakota’s Rally Rush initiative is back for a second year, celebrating the 85th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally from August 1–10, 2025, and the tradition of motorcycling in The Mount Rushmore State.
Launched in 2024, Rally Rush unites towns, cities and tourism organizations in extending South Dakota’s world-class hospitality to riders traveling to and from the Rally. The excitement is bigger than ever, with nearly 40 communities and organizations, ten more than the previous year, joining forces to make riders feel welcome across South Dakota.
Communities are hosting main street events, lining streets with “Welcome Riders” banners and window clings, and offering rider perks like discounts, reserved parking, gift bags, bike washes, cookouts, and other biker-friendly touches.
“Every mile of the journey to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is part of the experience,” said James Hagen, Secretary of the South Dakota Department of Tourism. “Communities across South Dakota embrace the Rally Rush to celebrate riders, showcase local charm, maximize economic impact, and create memories that keep them coming back year after year.”
Travel South Dakota will recognize one exceptional participating community with the Rally Rush Rumblin’ Community Award during the 2026 Governor’s Conference on Tourism.
