A section of S.D. Highway 47 in the Winner area reopens today (Aug. 7, 2025).
This section of Highway 47 from the junction with S.D. Highway 44, north, to the Highway 49 junction has been closed for the past month while a new precast box culvert was installed.
The South Dakota Department of Transportation says work on the $21.2 million reconstruction project will continue from the Highway 47/Highway 49 junction, north toward Interstate 90.
The overall project completion date is Nov. 14, 2025.

July 7, 2025:
On Monday (July 7, 2025), work is scheduled to begin on a $21.2 million precast box culvert installation project on S.D. Highway 47 east of Winner.
This installation will require a 30-day closure for all through traffic on Highway 47 from the junction with S.D Highway 44 north to the S.D. Highway 49 junction. The project to install the new precast box culvert on Highway 47 requires full closure of the road as the area doesn’t allow for any traffic diversion.
During this box culvert installation project, three deep pipe installations and repairs will take place. The deep pipe work locations are located approximately one mile south of the junction with Highway 49 and Highway 47, approximately three-quarters of a mile south of the intersection of Bull Creek Road, and approximately one mile south of the intersection of Hammerbeck Road. At these pipe installation locations, the contractor will provide a path for nearby residences to travel. Only local traffic will be allowed on this section of Highway 47 during the road closure.
The overall project completion date is Nov.14, 2025.
