Two women from Pierre face charges after police were called to their location Saturday evening (Aug. 9, 2025, approximately 5:15pm).
Information from the Pierre Police Department says Patrol Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Izaak Walton Road because someone had called to report people smoking marijuana in a vehicle. Officers located the vehicle and identified the occupants as 30-year-old Julia Marks and 27-year-old Kami Konop, along with two children under 10 years old.
During the investigation, Officers located drug paraphernalia and THC wax in the vehicle. Marks was identified as the driver of the vehicle and was given field sobriety tests. Both Marks and Konop were arrested and taken to the Hughes County Jail. The children were released to adult family or friends.
Marks is charged with:
- Ingesting a substance to become intoxicated,
- Possession of a controlled drug or substance
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- DUI 1st offense
- Contributing to abuse, neglect, or delinquency of a child
- Driving without a valid license
- Failure to maintain financial responsibility
- Expired license plates
Konop is charged with:
- Ingesting a substance to become intoxicated
- Contributing to abuse, neglect, or delinquency of a child
