Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love underwent surgery on his left thumb to fix a torn ligament, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst relayed to reporters earlier this morning.
Love suffered the thumb injury after his hand hit atop a helmet during the Packers 30-10 preseason loss to the New York Jets on Sunday. Love wore tape around the thumb during yesterday’s practice. Gutekunst said that he expects Love to return to practice at some point next week and believes he will be ready to go for the season opener.
The Packers will open the season versus the Lions on September 7th, at 3:25 on CBS.
