The Mobridge City Council held a regular meeting Wednesday (August 13th) at City Hall.
Water/Sewer
A payment request of $998,973.49 to Crow River for the water tank and water main project was approved.
A payment request of $45,445.50 to Muth Electric for work on the water treatment plant rehab project was approved.
Council approved a quote of $67,250.00 for water intake pumps.
Police
New Police Department hire Ricky Lee Medina was approved, effective August 18th.
Finance
A public hearing was held and approval given for a special event permit August 16th for the Silver Dollar cornhole tournament and street dance.
A public hearing was held and approval given for several brown bag permits for the City of Mobridge for upcoming activities at the A.H. Brown Public Library and at the Legion Field pickleball and tennis courts.
A public hearing was held and approval given on a short term rental license for First Avenue Enterprises – Mary & Chris Fried – at 609 1st Avenue West for a bed and breakfast.
A building mover’s license and an application to move a building on a city street were both approved.
Council voted unanimously to deny Resolution 25-09, a waive sidewalk requirement, for a property on 4th Street East. Mayor Gene Cox talked about the requirement.
Discussion & Information
Mobridge City Finance Officer Heather Beck updated the council on the trail project.
Beck also told the council that the City received an acceptance letter from the South Dakota Department of Legislative Audit. She said it is available to read online or residents can come to City Hall and discuss it with her.
Mayor Cox read the August operating hours at the pool. The pool will remain open pending staff availability through the end of the month with a fundraiser for the pool planned for August 31st.
