On the game’s biggest stage, Sioux Falls delivered nearly a perfect performance in their first game in Williamsport at the Little League World Series. South Dakota sent out one of their best arms in Maxen Snoozy, and he met the moment with a fierce, one-hit, complete game shutout of Pennsylvania en route to a 2-0 victory in their first game under the lights of the LLWS.
South Dakota jumped out early after Camden Tycz rifled a breaking ball into the left-center gap to take the early 1-0 lead in the first inning. Later in the inning, Kenson Henderson would drop a bloop-single into shallow right field that just barely squeezed in between the second basemen and right fielder for Pennsylvania, which would score Tycz thanks to heads up base running.
Those two runs would prove to be all that South Dakota would need as Snoozy simply dealt the entire night. No runs on just one hit given up by Snoozy is exactly the tone-setter Sioux Falls was looking for. Not to mention, Snoozy casually sat down 11 Pennsylvania hitters via strikeout. It did not come as much of a surprise to most that Snoozy pitched so well, he averaged nearly two strikeouts and inning in his two games during the Midwest Regional Series. Snoozy was as good as advertised as Sioux Falls jumped into the win column and sit 1-0 on the tournament.
South Dakota now awaits the winner of tonight’s matchup between West and Metro at 6 PM. South Dakota will enjoy the weekend before playing game two on Monday at 6 PM.
