Aug. 18, 2025:
Portions of Dakota Avenue in Pierre are closed for asphalt removal scheduled to begin Monday (Aug. 18, 2025).
The closed section of Dakota Avenue is from Poplar Avenue to James Street. The Charles Street intersection will be fully closed, and only one lane will remain open for traffic traveling south from James Street. “No Through Traffic” will be allowed in the construction area.
Barricades will be placed to allow alley access, ensuring that businesses, water treatment operations and other essential services can still be reached. No residential impacts are anticipated as there are no occupied apartments within the closed section and sidewalks under the bridge are already closed.
