Governors Soccer gets one win and a draw versus Roosevelt in doubleheader; Travel home to face Yankton tomorrow

On a blistering day with sweltering heat, the Govs and Roosevelt would have to hit pause on kickoff of their soccer matchup to let that heat subside a bit before they could safely get their matches underway.

In game one, the Governor boys dominated from the start winning 3-1 on goals from Alex Odekoven, Carter Norton and Lucas Hight. Also making their way onto the stat sheet was Joseph Blaha and Caiden Ahartz who earned assists on two of the goals (Odekoven also earned an assist on Nortons goal). The Governor boys moved to 1-1-1 on the year with the win.

In the girls game, the Governors would draw the Roughriders thanks to a Cameron Larson goal that would knot the game at 1-1. The Governor girls remain unbeaten sitting at 2-0-1 on the year.

Both teams now look forward to their first games at home as they welcome Yankton in for a doubleheader at Hollister Field tomorrow afternoon. Game one will get underway at 4:00 PM CT with the second game scheduled for 6:00 PM CT.
