A cattle producer from the Onida, South Dakota, area was killed this week while working on field equipment.
62 year old Troy B. Thomas passed away Tuesday (Aug. 19, 2025) while checking irrigation pivots.
Troy, his wife, VeaBea, their daughter, Cally Thomas Kindred, and her husband Clint, own and operate the Thomas Ranch– a well known cattle operation across the state and across the country. Thomas Ranch is a fourth-generation ranching operation that raises a herd of registered Angus, Simmental, Red Angus and Charolais cows, as well as 300 commercial cows.
Visitation for Troy Thomas will be from 5-7pm, Sunday (Aug. 24, 2025) at the Sully Buttes School Gymnasium in Onida. A prayer service will begin at 7pm.
The funeral service will be Monday at 10am, at the Sully Buttes School Gym. Interment will be at the Onida Cemetery.
