South Dakota Governor Larry Rhoden ordered that flags be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol from sunrise until sunset on Saturday (Aug. 23, 2025) in honor of former state legislator John R. McIntyre. He served in the South Dakota State House of Representatives from 1999 to 2000, and he served in the South Dakota State Senate from 2001 to 2002.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am CT on Saturday at St. John American Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls.
