The annual “Salute to Veterans” program at the South Dakota State Fair in Huron will be held Thursday (Aug. 28, 2025) at 10:30am on the Northwestern Energy Freedom Stage.
The Salute honors the service and sacrifice of veterans, active military personnel, and their families. Additionally, all veterans and military personnel receive free gate admission into the fair.
This year’s “Salute to Veterans” program will feature state Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Jeremiah Schneider as the keynote speaker. Schneider brings extensive experience from his over 19-year career in the United States Naval Reserves, where he holds the rank of Master Chief and serves as the Deputy Senior Enlisted Leader for Expeditionary Medical Facility Camp Pendleton. His leadership roles and multiple tours in Afghanistan underscore his deep understanding of military service.
Throughout the entire fair week, staff from the South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs will be available at Booth #5A in the Expo Building. They will provide updates and personalized assistance regarding state and federal benefits, programs and services tailored for veterans.
