Aug. 28, 2025:
The National Weather Service Office in Grand Forks, North Dakota, has determined the strength of a tornado that dropped down near Dakota Magic Casino on the South Dakota-North Dakota border Aug. 21, 2025.
The rope-type tornado was an EF-1 on the Fujita Scale. It was on the ground for a mile-and-a-half and reached a maximum width of 30 yards on the ground.
The weather service says it was a slow-moving tornado that started in a field and tracked east-northeast into a grove of trees, snapping some off at the trunk, and then scouring through a corn field. The peak winds were estimated to be around 100 miles an hour.
There were no injuries and no damage to any buildings.

Aug. 22, 2025:
A severe thunderstorm in northeast South Dakota produced a tornado late Thursday afternoon (Aug. 21, 2025).
Watertown saw some street flooding from heavy rain. Water was covering Interstate 29 at mile marker 183.
Milbank had one inch hail.
