The location for the next statue to be placed along the Trail of Governors in Pierre has been approved (Aug. 20, 2025) by the Capitol Complex Restoration and Beautification Commission.
Trail of Governors Foundation President Rick Jensen says the bronze statue of former Governor Kristi Noem will be put on the south side of Hilger’s Gulch.
Because the addition of Noem’s statue means the Trail of Governors is expanding to the north of the Capitol Complex, Commission member Tom Glover would like Trail of Governors Foundation to come up with a plan for locating future statues.
The unveiling ceremony for the Noem statute will be held in June of 2026.
