MOBRIDGE, S.D. – The Mobridge-Pollock Tigers dominated Miller/Highmore-Harrold 52-7, on Friday Night in a matchup of unbeaten teams at Tiger Stadium. Mobridge-Pollock scored 38 points in the first quarter alone in the win and held Miller/Highmore-Harrold under 100 yards rushing as the Tigers improved to 2-0 on the season.
Mack Saxon shined in the first quarter scoring 3 touchdowns, including his first receiving touchdown of the season on a dump off screen pass from Shooter Frederick. The Mobridge-Pollock defense had some stand out performances as well including Ethan Falk’s first interception of the season, and Kyson Good-Shield’s first interception of the season. Kyson Good-Shield also got involved in the run game during the second half making a big impact in the win on both sides of the ball.
The performance from Kyson Good-Shield earned him Riverside Home Furnishing player of the game honors, his interview will go live on the DRG Mobridge Facebook page Saturday.
The Tigers started things off similar to last week against Groton Area deferring the ball after winning the coin toss. Last week it was the first play from scrimmage that Mobridge-Pollock forced a fumble and turned the ball over. This week it was the third snap of the ball game, when the Tiger defense forced a fumble and set their offense up with great field position for the first of three Mack Saxon touchdowns in the first quarter.
Halfway through the second quarter the backups for the Tigers started to come into the game giving opportunities to different underclassmen to get some playing time. One player who shined in the second half was Greg Kessler scoring his first rushing touchdown of the season to put Mobridge-Pollock ahead 52-7, the final score in the eventual win.
Mobridge-Pollock hosts Aberdeen Roncalli for Homecoming next Friday, September 12 for another 11B matchup at 6:00 p.m. We will have coverage of the game on Star 99! and will be streaming it live on DRGnews.com/star-99/.
