The Mobridge City Council held a regular meeting on Wednesday, September 10th.
Water/Sewer
Several pay requests were approved:
- $175,016.25 to Preload LLC for work on the water storage tank project north of the golf course;
- $344,254.62 to Sentry for inside work on the water treatment plant project;
- and $236,118.50 to Crow River for the water line project going up the highway.
Council approved two change orders:
- an $11.00 credit to Preload for lighting on and around the water tank;
- and $17,050.00 to Crow River for the addition of a fire hydrant and valve north of the cemetery on the east side of the highway for fire protection and flushing.
Council also gave approval for the purchase of a meter reader (laptop with an antenna) in the amount of $23,059.00 to upgrade the City’s meter reading system.
Police
Council approved new hires in the Police Department – Police Officer Alan Sheldon, and Dispatchers Amy Blankhartz, and Donovan Knecht.
Finance
A re-plat behind Greenwood Cemetery across from the vet clinic was approved.
A public hearing was held and approval given for a temporary liquor license for a wedding reception and dance at Scherr-Howe Event Center on October 4th.
Council approved the sale of a surplus jet fuel truck to the City of Belle Fourche, sold as is and delivered to Belle Fourche, for $22,000.00.
Council approved the First Reading of the Appropriations Ordinance. A special meeting will be held September 24th to approve the Second Reading. The Ordinance needs to be approved by October 1st.
Mobridge City Finance Officer Heather Beck requested approval from the Council to move assigned funds back to unassigned for certain projects.
Council also approved a quote ($6,528.00) from Carlson’s Painting to repaint the trim at the library. Finance Officer Beck wants to get the work done this fall, even though it is not in the 2025 budget.
Discussion and Information
Council heard an update on the pool and other events, and Executive Director of Housing Jamie Dietterle talked about a partnership with the high school Career and Technical Education Program to build a house.
