MOBRIDGE, S.D. – The Mobridge-Pollock Tigers dominated Aberdeen Roncalli in a 50 to nothing shut out on Friday Night in their Homecoming game at Tiger Stadium. Mack Saxon, Easton Eisemann, Kale Knudson, and Dylan Fjeldheim all found the endzone as the Tigers improved to 3-0 on the season.
The Tigers jumped out of the gate on offense early in this game with an impressive wildcat direct snap to Easton Eisemann which went for a big gain, before Mack Saxon found the endzone for a 23 yard touchdown on the very next play. Saxon went on to find the endzone three more times in the win including the final touchdown to mercy Aberdeen Roncalli early in the 4th quarter. Sophomore Dylan Fjeldheim also had his biggest performance of the season and his high school career with a 55 yard rushing touchdown, and a kickoff return touchdown to begin the second half for the Tigers.
The game started with some déjà vu, with the Tigers winning the coin toss and deferring to the second half for the third week in a row. This time however, they didn’t end up in a forced fumble turnover, but the Tigers defense did get a turnover on downs to stop the Aberdeen Roncalli drive. The Tigers went on to put up 36 points in the first half including an impressive one minute drill at the end of the first half, ending with Shooter Frederick finding Easton Eisemann in the back of the endzone for a 19 yard touchdown.
The second half began with fireworks, the first special teams touchdown of the season when Dylan Fjeldheim took it from one side of the field to the other for the score. After Fjeldheim’s initial kickoff return touchdown, the Tigers began to struggle with two straight offensive drives resulting in fumbles giving Aberdeen Roncalli good field position but both times the Mobridge-Pollock defense stood tall and kept the Cavaliers out of the endzone to maintain the shutout. With the starters still in it was only a matter of time before the Tiger offense got another drive going, and Mack Saxon would end up being the one to find the endzone and call a game.
Mobridge-Pollock will travel to Webster Area next Friday, September 19 for another 11B matchup at 7:00 p.m.
