A Yankton teacher has been fired after an investigation by the Yankton School District.
Superintendent, Dr. Wayne Kindle, says that the school district has terminated the contract of Kaiti Ladwig, a teacher at the Yankton High School, after an investigation by school administration determined that Ladwig violated the district’s Professional Boundaries Policy and her actions constituted unprofessional conduct and gross immorality pursuant to SDCL 13-43.6.1.
SDCL 13-43.6.1. states that a teacher may be terminated, by the school board, at any time for just cause, including breach of contract, poor performance, incompetency, gross immorality, unprofessional conduct, insubordination, neglect of duty, or the violation of any policy or regulation of the school district.
Kindle stated that he placed Ladwig on administrative leave before the start of the school year while the investigation was ongoing.
Ladwig’s contract was terminated by the Yankton School Board at a meeting Monday night (Sept. 15, 2025) after a recommendation from the superintendent.
