Babcock from Pierre is National Merit Scholarship Program semifinalist

Pierre T.F. Riggs High School Senior Bridger Babcock has been selected as a semifinalist for the National Merit Scholarship Program.

Riggs Principal Kelly Hansen says the National Merit Scholarship Program honors individual students who have demonstrated outstanding academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college courses. Babcock is one of only 46 students in South Dakota to be selected as a semifinalist.

Nationwide, 16,000 students were selected as semifinalists for the prestigious National Merit Scholarships. The approximately 6930 scholarships totaling nearly $26 million will be awarded in the spring.
