WHAT: The 2025 Special Olympics Minnesota (SOMN) Baseball and Softball Clinic presented by UnitedHealthcare provides people with intellectual disabilities continuing opportunities to realize their potential, develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, and experience joy and friendship through our beloved diamond sports.
Athletes of all ages will learn, laugh and play alongside National Baseball Hall of Famer and Twins legend Joe Mauer, Twins clinicians, and SOMN and UnitedHealthcare staff. Participants will bat, throw, catch and run the bases in a series of fun, interactive games – all designed to emphasize that baseball and softball truly are for all.
All participating athletes will also receive a Twins swag bag and two free tickets to attend Saturday night’s 6:10 p.m. Twins vs. Cleveland Guardians game at Target Field.
WHY: Saturday marks nine months until opening ceremonies of the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games, to be held June 20-26, 2026 in the Twin Cities.
By meeting athletes where they are, supporting them with individualized instruction and leveraging relationships with partners such as UnitedHealthcare and Special Olympics Minnesota to ensure accessibility, the Minnesota Twins and the Twins Community Fund have cultivated a unique, industry-leading approach to adaptive sports programming that is truly changing the game by empowering all to play.
Along with serving as presenting partner of Saturday’s clinic, UnitedHealthcare is proud partner of Special Olympics Minnesota and a sponsor of the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games.
