WEBSTER, S.D. – The Mobridge-Pollock Tigers dominated Webster Area in a 50-0 shutout win on Friday Night in their first road game of the season at Webster Area. Mobridge-Pollock has now gone six straight quarters without giving up a single point, earning their second straight shut out of the year against Webster Area to advance to 4-0 on the season.
Despite finishing with the exact same score as last week this win looked very different for Mobridge-Pollock. Mack Saxon, Easton Eisemann and the entire run game was slowed down compared to previous games forcing the Tigers to do some early damage in the air. Luke Olson found the endzone for the first time this season early on a 44 yard receiving touchdown. The Tigers then proceeded to have back to back punt return touchdowns in the first quarter going up 21-0 early before slowing down on offense. The Tigers offense of course still drove down the field but the big plays were limited for the remainder of the win.
As has been the norm so far this season, Mobridge-Pollock got off to a quick start on offense with a 44 yard bomb to Luke Olson followed up by two punt return touchdowns scored by Easton Eisemann and Mack Saxon. The Tigers then cooled off a bit on offense, getting stuck in longer drives but Mack Saxon was still able to find the endzone three times with some physical running. In the air Shooter Frederick didn’t have to throw a lot in the rainy conditions but he was asked to make some plays including an incredible fourth down completion while he was on the move under pressure.
In the second half Tyler Schmeichel was a big contributor following his fumble at the end of the first half. An initial defensive stop led to Mobridge-Pollock driving down the field their first time on offense, eventually handing it off to Tyler Schmeichel to find the endzone for his first rushing touchdown of the season. After another defensive stop with the clock continuing to tick, Mobridge-Pollock was able to find the endzone one last time, and with a Shooter Frederick extra point, earn their second straight 50-0 shutout mercy win. The defense of course shined in the win as well as the offensive line play, and in this game, as well as all season, Kellen Pfitzer really stood out, making him this week’s Riverside Home Furnishing Player of the Game
Mobridge-Pollock will travel to Belle Fourche next Friday, September 26 for their second of four straight road matchups, kickoff is at 6:00 p.m MST. or 7:00 p.m. CST.
