The LifeServe Blood Donor Center in Pierre has been open for about a month and they’re still working to get staff hired and fully trailed.
In the meantime, LifeServe Public Relations and Marketing Director Tim Paluch says they are taking appointments for blood donations.
Paluch says until LifeServe is able to staff consistent hours at the Blood Donor Center in Pierre, the best thing to do is to make an appointment in advance.
As for what types of blood are in highest demand?
The LifeServe Blood Donor Center location in Pierre is at 1908 N. Garfield Avenue (in the Larkspur Landing building).

Additionally, the 21st annual Tyler Wilcox Memorial Guns n’ Hoses Blood Drive will be held Dec. 3-5, 2025, in Fort Pierre and Pierre. The deadline to donate blood and become eligible again in time to donate during Guns n’ Hoses is Oct. 6.
LifeServe is the sole supplier of blood and blood products for the Avera healthcare facilities, including those in Gettysburg, Miller, Pierre, Chamberlain and Winner.
