GROTON, S.D. – The Mobridge-Pollock Lady Tigers lost in a three set sweep to the Groton Area Tigers Monday night at Groton Area high school. Mobridge-Pollock came out of the gates hot, taking a very early lead in set number one before Groton completely took over and overpowered Mobridge-Pollock with their impressive offense as the Lady Tigers dropped to 10-9 on the season.
Set one of this game started out in favor of Mobridge-Pollock taking advantage of many early mistakes from Groton Area. As the set carried on Groton started to clean things up and put their strong offense on display passing the ball around to many different hitters and defending Mobridge-Pollock kill attempts well. One player who helped in the set one comeback and was unstoppable really all game whenever she touched the ball was Rylee Dunker who displayed her power and precision winning player of the game for this match. She was one of many that had outstanding days including Tevan Hanson, Chesney Weber, Jaedyn Penning, and many others for Groton Area.
Set two was more of the same with Mobridge-Pollock struggling against a sharp Groton offense who’s precision passing and accuracy on their kill attempts proved to be a challenge for the Lady Tigers. In set three after another slow start that saw Mobridge-Pollock down early, after a time out the Lady Tigers clawed their way back into the set tying it up multiple times but Groton eventually was just too much to handle taking another lead late winning set three 25-19 and earning the three set sweep.
Mobridge-Pollock will return to the court when they travel to Northwestern high school for the Northwestern Tournament Saturday, October 11 at 9:00 a.m.
