The Pierre Governors tennis team was one of the few Gov sports teams in postseason action this week with both varsity soccer teams playing as well. But Governor Tennis, playing in Sioux Falls, was at their final stop of the season this week, the State Tournament.
The Governors as a team hung tough against some very strong opponents, placing 6th as a team and finishing right in the middle of the pack. The final team scores are listed below:

But Governor Adrian Hand had the best day of all, taking home the State Championship in Flight 5. Not only did hand win, it was a dominant win beating Ellie Holdhusen 6-2, 6-2. The win for Hand was no easy feat seeing as Holdhusen mowed her way through the bracket with scores of 6-2, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-1. Hand also came in as the four-seed facing off with the two-seed.
Hand was not the only one to go deep in bracket play for the Pierre Governors, Amara Dell also made it to the championship match but fell in an absolute thriller of a match. Dell lost in a third-set tiebreaker 10-8, but put on a great display in the meantime.
