At Tuesday’s (Oct.7th) meeting of the Walworth County Commission, one of the discussions centered around a motion made by Commissioner Scott Schilling that an employee has to work 40 hours per job title in order to garner overtime. The specific issue is an administrative assistant in the Sheriff’s office who is also willing to do transport duty. Walworth County State’s Attorney Sarah Malsom advised the board not to act on the motion until they have time to discuss in a legal executive session the liability of that decision. Walworth County Auditor Kim Dills said she had spoken about the matter with another attorney for the state. Here is part of the exchange between Malsom and Dills.
Dills continued to argue the issue with Sheriff Josh Boll.
Listening to the advise of their State’s Attorney, the majority of the commissioners voted to not pass the motion until it can be discussed in a legal executive session.
Also at Tuesday’s meeting, the commissioners passed a motion to sign an agreement with HKG Architects to advertise for a Construction Management Representative on the county jail project. Dean Marske from HKG explained the C.M.R.’s role.
The next Walworth County Commission meeting will be Thursday, November 13th.
