ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Mobridge-Pollock Lady Tigers took a loss to the Aberdeen Roncalli Cavaliers Tuesday night at Aberdeen Roncalli. Mobridge-Pollock took down the Cavaliers just this past weekend at the Northwestern Tournament but couldn’t repeat that success today as the Lady Tigers fall to 13-13 on the season.
Aberdeen Roncalli saw some impressive defense tonight but it was the offense that really shined in the win. Gabby Thomas, Rylee Voeller, Karsyn Davis, and Grace Cogley all were excellent on the attack but starting in the first set Jillian Ellwein was incredible. Ellwein showed a lot of power and precision in order to attack the Mobridge-Pollock defense and was efficient whenever she was on the attack making her this games Riverside Home Furnishing Player of the Game.
Set one of this one got started with some excellent play from the Aberdeen Roncalli outside hitters being able to give the Lady Tigers some trouble with both their impressive power and accuracy. Both teams fought back and forth but in the end the Cavaliers took a late lead to win set one 25-17. In set two both teams had a few service errors but Aberdeen Roncalli was able to take advantage of the mistakes and use it for momentum. They eventually went on to win set two 25-9. In set three it was more of the same clean play from Aberdeen Roncalli to end this match off with the three set sweep winning set three 25-13.
