The Pierre City Commission has approved (Oct. 14, 2025) a new lease agreement for the Pierre Area Senior Citizen’s Center.
The current lease, which expires Nov. 1, 2025, was a 50-year lease. City Administrator Kristi Honeywell says the new lease is for another 20 years.
Senior Center Chair Sandra Kangas says they have opportunities to socialize most days of the week.
In the lease agreement, the City owns the property and the Senior Center maintains it. Senior Center Vice-Chair Merrill Olson says the City continues to be a great partner.
The minimum age to be a member of the Pierre Area Senior Citizen’s Center is 50 years old.
