Earlier today, the South Dakota All-State Soccer Teams were announced, and Pierre’s Jasmine Jost and Natalie Flottmeyer earned the honors by making the list. Jasmine Jost was named first team All-State while Flottmeyer made second team. Lexie Hillmer was also recognized for her great play this season by earning Honorable Mention.
Jost was a ligthning rod for the Govs. Known as one of the teams most physical players, she delivered a much needed spark throughout the year and was always a focus for opponents when game planning for a matchup against Pierre. Jost finished the season with 8 goals and 9 asssists, but played a crucial defensive role for head coach Kira Swenson’s squad. A true ‘lead by example’ type of player.
Flottmeyer also played a crucial role for Pierre, not only a leader for Pierre, Flottmeyer was important on the offensive end scoring 12 goals and assisting on six. Flottmeyer seemed to always have a smile whether things were going well or not, and was referred to as a “glue” player, which meant she was big in keeping the spirit of the team high.
Hillmer led the Governors in scoring and assists with 15 goals and double-digit assists for her team. Hillmer had one of the most accurate shots in the state, scoring on numerous free kicks from distance. When the Govs were in need of a big goal, they would turn to Lexie Hillmer. Hillmer spearheaded one of the teams largest comebacks of the season, scoring two of the three goals in a final minute comeback against Rapid City Central, the third being scored by the player above in Flottmeyer.
Jost and Flottmeyer will leave a huge gap as they graduate, but certainly earned these honors with their play. Hillmer will look to continue her dominance in the coming years. All three played over 1,000 minutes for the Governors this season. To view the four All-State teams, click the links below:
