A 43 year old man from Rapid City, South Dakota, died following a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning (Oct. 21, 2025, at 7:30am) near Rapid City.
Names of the those involved have not been released pending notification of family members.
Preliminary crash information indicates the driver of a 2022 International Truck-Tractor was traveling eastbound on I-90 near mile marker 54. At the same time, the driver of a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling westbound at the same location when he crossed the median and struck the International Truck-Tractor.
The driver of the Chevrolet died from his injuries. The driver of the International Truck-Tractor, a 43 year old male from Box Elder, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The I-90 eastbound lanes shut down at approximately 7:30 a.m. At 10:15 a.m., the passing eastbound lane reopened to traffic.
