Students and staff in the Stanley County School District will be wearing orange Wednesday (Oct. 22, 2025), but they’re not celebrating South Dakota’s pheasant hunting season.
School Counselor Nichole Hahn says October is National Bullying Prevention Month and Wednesday is “Unity Day.” She says wearing orange symbolizes your personal opposition to bullying.
Hahn invites community members to wear orange as well.
Hahn included a leaf pattern in the school business letter that was recently sent out, but she says community members can find any leaf pattern to write their positive message on or simply email their positive message to her.
Hahn says the SC School District Facebook page will be posting pictures of people wearing orange for Unity Day on Wednesday and she encourages community members to share their pictures as well.
When posting your photos in orange on social media on Wednesday, people are encouraged to use the hashtag Unity Every Day (#UnityEveryDay).
Additionally, next week (Oct. 27-30, 2025) is Red Ribbon Week and Hahn says the school is doing a “Miles of Quarters” campaign.
Again, for more information about Unity Day on Wednesday or Red Ribbon Week next week, contact Hahn at Nichole.hahn@k12.sd.us or call 605-223-7741 ext. 205.
