South Dakota Governor Larry Rhoden and First Lady Sandy Rhoden invite families to attend the annual trick-or-treat festivities at the Governor’s Residence in Pierre Friday (Oct. 31, 2025) from 5:30-7pm CT.
Rhoden asks children and parents to observe the following Halloween safety tips:
- Trick-or-treat during daylight hours or take a flashlight if going out after dark;
- Add reflective tape to costumes and trick-or-treat bags;
- Make sure vision is clear when wearing masks or other head garb;
- Adults should accompany young children, and unaccompanied children should trick-or-treat in groups; and
- Inspect candy before consuming and discard anything suspicious.
Rhoden says he and Sandy can’t wait to welcome South Dakota families to their trick-or-treat festivities. He said they love seeing the children’s unique costumes and creativity and they look forward to showing off costumes of their own– which might just bring a touch of the American West to the Governor’s Residence.
