A Winter Weather Advisory was posted for North Central South Dakota including Mobridge. The initial forecast called for morning rain changing to snow with 1 to 2 inches of snow and patchy blowing show. There was already an inch of wet heavy snow on the ground by 6:00 a.m. this morning. (Tuesday 11/24) The official snow total at noon central time was 3 inches in Mobridge, 4.5 inches in Aberdeen. Edgeley ND. reported 6.7 inches at 9:00 a.m. The system also brought strong winds to eastern South Dakota. 59 mph in Pierre, 62 mph in Bowdle, 65 mph in Agar and 70 mph seven miles north of Wanblee, SD. No travel was advised early in the Mobridge area with many schools closing or letting out early for the day. The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office reported white out conditions and asked residents to “Stay Home, avoid unnecessary travel! No Travel Advised!” The Corson County Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple calls of vehicle accidents and vehicles in the ditch in the McIntosh area. The Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect tonight until 6:00 p.m. CST. The Blizzard Warning for Aberdeen remains in effect until 7:00 p.m., Milbank and Sisseton until midnight CST tonight.
