Dec. 1, 2025:
An 82 year old man from Miller died in a two vehicle crash last week (Nov. 25, 2025, at 11:38 a.m.) in Miller.
Preliminary crash information indicates Leland James Cain, the driver of a 2022 Ford Edge, was traveling westbound on 7th Street and failed to come to a complete stop at the stop sign at the intersection of North Broadway Avenue. The Ford collided with a southbound semi in the intersection.
Cain sustained fatal injuries. The driver of the semi, 48 year old Joshua Dean Steffensen from Hetland, SD, was not injured.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
The Highway Patrol is an agency of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.

An 82 year old man from Miller died in a two vehicle crash Tuesday morning (Nov. 25, 2025, at 11:38 a.m.) in Miller.
The names of the persons involved have not been released pending notification of family members.
Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates the driver of a 2022 Ford Edge was traveling westbound on 7th Street and failed to come to a complete stop at the stop sign at the intersection of North Broadway Avenue. The Ford collided with a southbound semi in the intersection.
The driver of the Ford sustained fatal injuries. The driver of the semi, a 48 year old male from Hetland, SD, was not injured. Whether or not each man was wearing a seat belt is under investigation.
