The new High Plains Soybean Processing plant near Mitchell is already one of the largest economic development projects in South Dakota history…and it’s getting larger.
The state Railroad Board recently approved an additional 5.7-million dollar low interest loan for additional railroad tracks at the site.
The request for the loan was presented by Mitchell Area Development Corporation CEO Mike Lauritsen…
The new plant provides about 100 new jobs.
Area soybean producers are receiving a premium price of about 25-cents extra per bushel.
