The South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association (SDCA) members elected leaders to serve on the SDCA Board of Directors at their Annual Meeting on December 3, 2025, in Deadwood, South Dakota.
The SDCA is a grassroots organization that relies on participation from members and elected representatives serving on the state Board of Directors. The board is comprised of the president, vice president, vice president of membership, secretary/treasurer, past president, two region directors from each of the five regions (western, northern, southern, northeastern, and southeastern), and an ex officio member from the collegiate cattlemen.
The 2026 SDCA leadership includes Craig Bieber, President; Kory Bierle, Vice President; Vaughn Thorstenson, Secretary/Treasurer; Dawn Butzer, Vice President of Membership; and Warren Symens, Past President.
Region Directors on the SDCA Board serve two-year terms, with one representative from each region elected annually on a rotating basis. This year, the board welcomes four newly elected Region Directors: Maria Buus of Canova, Clint Doll of Prairie City, Cody Hanssen of Firesteel, and Maggie Mendel of Carpenter.
The 2026 SDCA Region Directors include Devin Stephens and Doll representing the Western Region; Colby Olson and Buus representing the Southeast Region; Nick Wilkinson and Mendel representing the Northeast Region; and Troy Hadrick and Hanssen representing the Northern Region.
