MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins, in conjunction with partners Thrivent, Reading Partners, MAC-V, WCCO-TV, Target, Gillette Children’s, YouthLink, Meet Minneapolis and The Giving Trees, today announced plans for the club’s 20th annual Holiday Week of Giving, set for today (Monday, December 8) through Friday, December 12.
Twins players (including Kody Funderburk, Luke Keaschall, Royce Lewis and Alan Roden), alumni (including National Baseball Hall of Famers Bert Blyleven and Joe Mauer, and Twins Hall of Famer Justin Morneau), Twins mascot T.C., front office staff and corporate partners will volunteer at events benefiting a variety of causes. Tuesday, December 9: Reading Partners and Thrivent Book Fair at Folwell Elementary School

WHAT: In partnership with Reading Partners and Thrivent, the Twins are hosting a book fair for students at Folwell Elementary School. Blyleven, Funderburk and Roden will join Twins volunteers to set up book displays, help students select their books and spend time reading with the kids, while T.C. will kick off the day by welcoming students to school!

WHAT: “Home for the Holidays,” presented by WCCO-TV in partnership with MAC-V, connects homeless veterans with service providers such as medical care resources, registering for assistance and shelter programs, while also providing each veteran with a free meal. Twins volunteers will serve meals, hand out gift bags and help spread holiday cheer.

WHAT: The Twins and Target are again partnering to bring cheer to patients and families at Gillette Children’s during the holiday season. This fun and whimsical celebration will bring the holiday magic and transform the hospital into a festive holiday party for Gillette Children’s patients and their families. The event will feature mascots, Twins players and alumni, gifts, face painting, games, pictures, presents, holiday treats and more, all to benefit children who have complex brain, bone and movement conditions treated at Gillette Children’s.

Book Bag Decorating with Thrivent: Today (Monday, December 8), National Baseball Hall of Famer Bert Blyleven will join Twins front office staff and Thrivent staff at the Thrivent offices to decorate book bags that will be distributed to kids across the Twin Cities, including students at Tuesday’s book fair.

T.C. Surprise & Delight Holiday Deliveries with The Giving Trees: In partnership with The Giving Trees and its mission to bring joy to families this holiday season, Twins mascot T.C. will surprise families throughout Twins Territory with Christmas trees and decorations.

Tie Blankets for YouthLink: Throughout the week, Twins front office staff will make fleece tie blankets, which will be donated to YouthLink. Located near Target Field in downtown Minneapolis, YouthLink serves young people ages 16-24 experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Meet Minneapolis Warm Winter Clothing Drive: From December 1-12, Twins front office staff are joining forces with Meet Minneapolis on a warm winter clothing drive benefitting patients at Hennepin Healthcare.
