(MOBRIDGE, SD) Last night’s wind event produced over 100 reports of non-thunderstorm wind gusts of 50 to 77 mph in South Dakota.
A peak wind gust of 58 mph was reported at 7:29 Tuesday night in Mobridge while Roscoe hit 76 mph at 12:48 a.m. Wednesday (December 10).
Wind damage was reported at 11:31 p.m. Tuesday night (December 9) in the Herreid area with multiple power outages reported by Montana-Dakota Utilities including Herreid, Mound City, Artas and Bowdle.
Other peak wind gusts: 69 mph in Pierre, 63 mph in Akaska, 62 mph in Agar, 61 mph in Gettysburg and McLaughlin, 58 mph in Lowry and Trail City.
A 77 mph gust was reported at 10:50 pm Tuesday night 6 miles west of Henry.
Wind damage was reported 1 mile south of Aberdeen. A large branch from a tree was blown down with possible damage to a car and lamp post. A 71 mph wind gust 2 miles north Northeast of Aberdeen was reported with a building that had lost shingles from a roof. Multiple power outages due to the strong wind were reported in Aberdeen by NorthWestern Energy at 11:46 p.m. Tuesday night.
