The Mobridge City Council held a regular meeting on Wednesday, December 10th, at City Hall.
New Business included:
- Approval of a pay request of $31, 635.00 to Preload for the water storage tank project; and
- Approval of a pay request in the amount of $347, 754.76 to Sentry for the water treatment plant project.
For the Police Department, the Council approved:
- A step increase for Officer Michael Volz;
- A step increase for Dispatcher Snowy Fire Cloud-Schmidt;
- A level increase for Officer Romero; and
- The surplus of a Ford Explorer.
For the Finance Department, Council held a public hearing and then approved a short-term rental license for Norders Rentals/Nutty Nook.
Council then approved:
- Other short-term rental renewals;
- Insurance renewal for 2026 with Key Insurance. Premium total will be $149,404.00;
- An agreement with Oahe Vet for pound services;
- A contract with NECOG. The City’s share will be $1,806.63;
- Resolution 25-14, requiring financial information. Mayor Gene Cox read the resolution.
Council approved the first reading of Ordinance 25-03 for supplemental appropriations. Finance Officer Heather Beck had the details.
Council also approved hiring Monica Weninger for seasonal pool manager and Alexis Hoisington as the part-time MYO Coordinator.
Approved budgeted transfers included:
- $50,000 from the General Fund to the Pool Loan Fund;
- $20,000 from the General Fund to the Cemetery Fund;
- $40,000 from the General Fund to the Airport Fund;
- And $283,392.00 from the PSAP Fund to the General Fund. Finance Officer Beck explained how it works.
Also at the meeting Wednesday night, the Council approved setting June 2, 2026 as the election date and combining with the school; and they approved the first reading of Ordinance 25-04, dealing with pushing snow onto City property.
Under Discussion and Information items, a letter was received from the South Dakota Department of Game, Fish, & Parks notifying the City that it was denied Land & Water Conservation Fund grant assistance for the Mobridge Splash Pad Project for this fiscal year.
